Making a Splash with "Anything Goes"
Saint Louis University Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator Sara Rae Womack makes her directorial debut with the classic musical for Kirkwood Theatre Guild.
Sara Rae Womack, SLU Visual and Performing Arts coordinator, recently directed "Anything Goes" for Kirkwood Theatre Guild, which ran May 10-19, 2024, at the Robert G. Reim Theatre in Kirkwood, Missouri. This show marks Womack’s directorial debut. KTG has been designated a Missouri Historical Theatre by the Missouri Arts Council, in honor of their 93 years producing high-quality community theater. Colleen Dundon, a sophomore theatre major, also served the production as assistant director.
Dundon used this opportunity to take an Internship for the Honors Program. In her reflection, she notes "I had a wonderful time working with everyone at Kirkwood Theater Guild. I got to make meaningful suggestions to the show and think about the ways that I will be able to hone my craft in theater production! I am exponentially more interested in directing after this experience and I can’t wait until I can work on another show in a similar capacity."
The show was well-received. From the HEC review by Gerry Kowarsky, "In her accomplished debut as a director, Sara Rae Womack leads a joyous, insightful production."
