Employee Well-being

Saint Louis University Human Resources offers wellness programs to SLU faculty and staff encompassing physical, financial, spiritual, intellectual and emotional/social well-being.

Medical Premium Discount

SLU is requiring a biometric screening for anyone who wishes to receive a wellness premium discount in 2024. The wellness discount is $60 off their monthly medical premiums for an employee and an additional $30 for covered spouses.

Your screening will include blood pressure, glucose, hemoglobin A1C (this is a measurement of your average blood sugar over the past three months), and a cholesterol screening (HDL, LDL, and triglycerides).

Note: For the glucose and cholesterol testing, you must fast for eight hours prior to your screening appointment. This means nothing to eat or drink except for water. Take your medications as normal with water.

Saint Louis University partners with Quest Diagnostics to complete the biometric screening requirement. If you need further assistance, please contact the Quest Service Center at 855-623-9355.

July Employee Well-being Newsletter (PDF)

July is UV Safety Awareness Month

Most skin cancers are caused by too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. Protection from UV rays is important all year.  In July, we raise awareness that UV is the root cause of most skin cancers and encourage you to take precautions. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends following three simple steps while outdoors:

  • Seek shade when appropriate
  • Wear sun-protective clothing
  • Apply a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. As part of a complete early detection strategy, AAD recommends that you see a dermatologist once a year, or more often if you are at a higher risk of skin cancer, for a full-body, professional skin exam. Don’t have a dermatologist? Visit the SLUCare list of dermatology professionals for a list of Tier One Providers.
