Non-Discrimination
Saint Louis University is a non-discrimination and equal opportunity employer committed to providing fair treatment of all in the SLU community on the basis of merit.
As a federal contractor, Saint Louis University is required to be a non-discrimination and affirmative action employer. Affirmative action is the implementation of special recruitment and development efforts to overcome the under-representation of targeted groups. Targeted groups include persons with disabilities and protected veterans. Under the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA), a protected veteran is one of the following: a disabled veteran, a recently separated veteran (within the last three years), an active-duty wartime or campaign badge veteran, or an Armed Forces service medal veteran. All persons are afforded equal opportunity. It is our policy to recruit, hire, train, promote and in all ways provide fair treatment on the basis of merit in full compliance with all applicable anti-discrimination laws. The Non-Discrimination Plan (NDP) is available for viewing upon request in the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX.
The Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX is responsible for the administration of the University's equal opportunity and non-discrimination policies, programs, and procedures. We work cooperatively with departments to provide training and information on unlawful discrimination and non-discrimination issues to increase awareness of these issues throughout the University community and promote the full participation, well-being, and equitable treatment of all students, faculty, and staff.
The office assists in the recruitment of faculty members by monitoring searches and working collaboratively with the search committees, departments, human resources, and employment relations departments.
