Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine Awards

The Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine offers multiple annual awards to recognize students and faculty at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

John H. Gladney Faculty Award

The John H. Gladney Faculty Award recognizes a faculty member who contributes significantly to promoting and enhancing diversity within the medical school. This individual demonstrates leadership, integrity, community service and University mentorship. They embody the mission of SLU SOM and are committed to creating lasting change in the medical community.

Student Awards (Graduating Seniors)

John H. Gladney Student Award

The John H. Gladney Student Award honors a student who contributes significantly to promoting and enhancing diversity within the medical school. Recipients are chosen based on their academic performance, leadership skills, committee involvement, community activities and participation in domestic or international externships. 

Michael T. Railey Will You Remember Award

The Michael T. Railey Will You Remember Award honors a student who demonstrates a consistent commitment to leadership and mentorship within their class. Throughout their time at SLU, this individual has exemplified outstanding service to the school. They are eager to give back through mentoring and sponsorship in remembrance of the support they received as students. 

Daniel L. Blash Humanitarian Award

The Daniel L. Blash Humanitarian Award celebrates a student overcomer and humanitarian who impacts both the School of Medicine and the community it serves. The recipient demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, exemplary leadership skills, dedicated community service and a strong sense of spiritual commitment. They believe in supporting their community while fostering an environment of diversity and belonging.

Mission Ambassador Award

Open to all stakeholders at SLU SOM, the Mission Ambassador Award honors individuals who go above and beyond to make SLU SOM a more inclusive, welcoming environment. Nominations are accepted for faculty, staff, residents, fellows or students.
